11: Michael Keefe

Join me for an interview with Michael Keefe, who survived not one, but two hemorrhagic strokes. Listen as he talks about his family’s undying support and reconnects to the music he loves.

I think positivity was the biggest thing that helped me out.

“Music is is a language unto itself. So when you spend a lot of time practicing jazz licks, recording solos from great players that you're following, you can learn their language … I could specify particular licks, but the way I heard them before I still hear them and I still try and go for them.”

“I spent a lot of time staring at the wall paintings. My daughter who is a former dancer and Pilates instructor, sat in front of me one day and said, ‘you’ve got to start doing something Dad. You can't just keep staring at the wall.’ So she got me set up with a Pilates teacher and that's been a great relationship. Just a great outlet.”

“I was very lucky to have my wife who was so devoted to me.”
