Join me for an interview with Dr. Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes, a Philosopher of Mind and Metaphysics, who specializes in fields pertaining to panpsychism, pantheism, and altered states of consciousness. Listen as Dr. Peter discusses “group mind” and the shape of experience against the backdrop of his book Modes of Sentience: Psychedelics, Metaphysics, Panpsychism where he explores the intersection of psychedelic experience with philosophy.

Fun fact: he is inspiration to the recreation of inhuman philosopher Marvel Superhero, Karnak.

“I think the analogy of a symphony and the orchestra was like the brain and consciousness. So just as an orchestra is required for a symphony, so too a human brain is required for human consciousness. But, you don't need a symphony for a sound, right?

Because you could just have one instrument, or you could just clap your hands or whatever. And thus, analogously, you don't need a human brain for experience. And this is essentially panpsychism.”
